Frequently Asked Questions

Find below some of the most frequently asked questions we hear about Body Surgery Procedures, from our customers in Perth.

What are body surgery procedures?

There are a number of different procedures that are considered "body surgeries". Any surgical procedure can be considered a body procedure, however, it usually refers to procedures conducted on arms, legs and the torso. Usually, "body surgery" will exclude surgeries performed on the breasts and and face.

What is a full body lift?

Body lift surgery (also known as body contouring or body sculpting) consists of contouring the body as a whole. This includes removing excess sin and fat in an attempt to achieve a more elegant contour. There are certain areas that may be focused on depending on your needs including:

  • Tummy
  • Buttocks
  • Breasts
  • Arms
  • Thighs

Weight loss over a short period of time can often result in loose skin around the body. Body surgery may be suitable to tighten and remove this skin, offering an enhanced appearance. During your free consultation, your surgeon will speak with you regarding which form of body surgery may be best for you.

What is a 360 full body lift?

A 360 full body lift is a form of body surgery that addresses the loose skin and fat cells in the lower parts of your body. This consists of the buttocks, thighs, lower abdomen and hips. The surgery aims to tighten and remove loose skin around this area in order to improve the appearance of this region.

How do you sleep after a lower body lift?

Once your body surgery has been completed and you are recovering at home, it is important to remember how to sleep safely in order to help recovery. Sleeping on your back with your head and legs slightly elevated is a good way to promote healthy recovery (most people use pillows).

Sleeping on your side may be ok, depending on where your incisions are and the pressure that is put on them in this position. Your surgeon may be able to give you advice on the best way to aid your recovery through sleep positioning.

What is the difference between a tummy tuck and a lower body lift?

A tummy tuck is designed to remove the excess fat cells around your abdominal area in order to achieve a slimmer figure. Body lift surgery focuses on tightening the loose skin around your body. This may include your buttocks, thighs and lower back, along with your lower abdomen.

During your free consultation, your surgeon may be able to advise which form of surgery is best for you.

How much weight do you lose with a lower body lift?

Weight loss after body surgery will differ between patients; however, it is possible to lose between 20-50kg of weight after a lower body lift. Some patients have been able to lose up to 65kg in weight! During your free consultation, your surgeon may be able to advise you on realistic expectations for your body surgery.

How long do body surgeries last?

The results of any body surgery may last for several years. Nevertheless, there are several factors that you should consider including:

  • age and genetic factors such as skin laxity
  • lifestyle factors including diet and exercise
  • other environmental factors including stress on the area of surgery

Your age and genetic factors will affect your skin laxity and elasticity which will affect the results of your surgery. Additionally, putting on weight may also affect how the results of your surgery will look. To get the longest lasting results from your surgery, you should always listen to the directions of your surgeon and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.

How long does it take to recover from different body surgeries?

Body surgeries can take anywhere between 1-8 hours depending on the type of the procedure and requirements. Procedures are generally performed under general anaesthetic and most forms of body surgery may take between 4-6 weeks  to recover before you can restore your regular daily routine.

Additionally, you may not be able to partake in exercise for 4-8 weeks after the surgery to promote a healthy recovery. You may return to light exercise from a minimum of 4 weeks, depending on how you feel and the recommendations from your surgeon.
